This page explains what information FoundryCounsel collects, how we use it, and what choices you have. FoundryCounsel is a free matching service, not a law firm or attorney, and this page gives general information only.
What information we collect
We collect only the basic information needed to understand your request and try to match you with a licensed business-law attorney.
This usually includes:
- your name
- your email address
- your phone number
- your state
- a short description of your business-law need
Please keep that description short and general. Do not send sensitive information through our forms. That includes your Social Security number (SSN), which is a US taxpayer identification number for individuals; Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), which is a tax processing number issued by the IRS to some people who are not eligible for an SSN; Employer Identification Number (EIN), which is a federal tax ID for a business from IRS.gov; immigration status details; bank or financial account numbers; or confidential business secrets.
If you need help understanding common business terms before submitting a request, see our guides or help page.
How we use your information
We use the information you share to review your request, contact you, and try to match you with a licensed attorney who handles the type of matter you described.
We may use your phone number, email address, or both to follow up about your request. By submitting your contact information, you agree that FoundryCounsel and participating attorneys may contact you about that request, including by call or text, where allowed by law. This is sometimes called consent under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, or TCPA, a US law that sets rules for certain calls and texts.
We use the short description you provide only to understand the kind of legal help you may need. FoundryCounsel does not provide legal advice, and sending us information does not create an attorney-client relationship.
If you want to learn more about the service, visit how it works or get matched.
How we share information
We share your contact details and short request description only as needed to try to connect you with licensed business-law attorneys.
FoundryCounsel does not sell your information as a contact list. We are a matching service. Business owners use the service for free, and participating attorneys pay FoundryCounsel a flat marketing fee to participate. We do not charge owners to request a match.
We may also share information when reasonably necessary to operate the service, prevent misuse, or comply with law. If you later choose to speak with an attorney, that attorney's own privacy practices and engagement process will apply to information you share directly with them.
For legal decisions about your business, use official sources such as your state's Secretary of State, IRS.gov, USPTO.gov, and a licensed attorney.
Your choices and how to opt out
You can ask us not to contact you again. The easiest way is to reply to an email or text and ask to opt out, or contact us through our help page.
If you opt out, we will stop using your information for new matching outreach, except where we need limited records for service operations, security, or legal compliance.
If any information you submitted is wrong, you can contact us and ask us to correct it. To protect your privacy, please do not send sensitive identifiers or confidential documents when making that request.
We collect only basic contact information and a short description of your legal need so we can try to connect you with a licensed attorney, and you should never submit sensitive personal or confidential business information through our forms.
Common questions
Do I need to share detailed facts or documents in the form?
No. Please share only contact details and a short, general description of your issue. Do not send SSNs, ITINs, EINs, immigration documents, bank details, or confidential business secrets through the form.
Will FoundryCounsel give me legal advice?
No. FoundryCounsel is not a law firm and not an attorney. We provide general educational information and matching help, and no attorney-client relationship is created by using the service.
Does FoundryCounsel sell my information?
Not as a contact list. We use your information to try to match you with licensed attorneys and to contact you about your request.
Why might I get a call, text, or email after submitting a request?
Because we use the contact information you provide to follow up on your request and possible attorney match. By submitting your request, you agree to be contacted about that request, including by call or text where allowed by law.
